Nigeria
In an effort to shape Nigeria into a country with integrity and one in which citizens change the way they behave, the country’s President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday launched a “Change Begins With Me” campaign.
The campaign is aimed at educating and enlightening Nigerians on the need to appreciate the country’s values which Buhari says are critical to achieve comprehensive national development which has increasingly become relegated.
The country is mired in corruption and lawlessness that has spiraled down from government officials, lawmakers to ordinary citizens.
For some Nigerians, the change must begin with the government and politicians. They say president Buhari himself must set an example of change and to refrain from holding his predecessor’s government responsible for all that’s going wrong in the country.
But for others, the initiative is welcome and want all Nigerian patriots to participate.
Buhari following his inauguration, made a promise to fight corruption with his might and stop Boko Haram’s insurgency.
He however said the fight against the latter is “undermined by corruption within the Nigerian Army .
